Blogging has changed my life I was able to clear $25,000 of my family debt and become debt-free by the age of 20.
I never thought my small blog would generate over $50,000 in affiliate revenue in under 2 years.
My Short Story
Back in 2017 when I had to take a decision to drop out of my education due to my family’s financial troubles.
I was all messed up at the time and not able to decide what was I going to!
After a few hours of research on how to make money online, I have stumbled upon the term blogging.
I was fascinated by reading all their blogs and decided to start blogging but I was not sure how do bloggers really get paid.?
Why I Decided to Start Blogging?
With only minimum High school education and no prior experience, I was not confident to work with someone or apply for a job.
Moreover, I was not really ready to take up any jobs because I always had an entrepreneur mindset and dreamed of starting up my own company or business.
But things have turned out to be not pretty well.
When I was going through all the blog posts and websites of different bloggers I have noticed that these people are not just making a fixed amount of money every month but they are building a real business.
I was able to understand blogging is the only just like a salary it has a potential to scale and I have seen Alex and Lauren make more than $150,000 a month just with their blogs.
This is where my mind was blown away and I understood the blogging basics.
And I started my blog TranceBlogger.com
How I Made Over $50,000 Using a Small Blog
I will breakdown my 2-year blogging journey and how much I have spent on my niche website to make generate over 5 figures.
I have only promoted one high ticket affiliate program on my niche website in the entire 2 years period and never spent more than $200 in expenses.
And never wrote more than 5 blog posts in the entire 2 years of my blogging journey.
- Affiliate Marketing: $27,302
- Adsense: $75
Total Income: $27,377
- Domain: $15 (Paid for 3 years)
- Hosting: $103 (Also paid for 3 years)
- Theme: $59
Total Expenses: $177
Total net income from 2018: $27,200
- Affiliate Marketing: $25,766
I have removed AdSense because it was slowing down my website and anyway I wasn’t making more than $7-$10 a month.
- I have literally not spent a dollar in my second year blogging not even for a course, or backlinks, or for any technical stuff.
Total net income from 2019: $25,766
Total Income in 2 years: $52,966
Not bad for a blog with just 5 posts and less than 1 month of work in 2 years.
Unfortunately, my blog was hit by a Google algorithm update and my blog lost its rankings and not able to recover from the penalty.
I have tried removing all the backlinks. Improved the site interlinking but nothing worked.
I got my last payment in June 2019 from this affiliate program. In the last 6 months of 2019 I tried everything to get it back to form but no luck.
The beauty of this program is it’s a revenue-sharing model, once the users become active I will be again earnings revenue from this affiliate offer.
Taking It to Next Level
After 1 year of taking a break from blogging and focusing on digital marketing, I have now decided to turn TranceBlogger from a Niche blog to an Authority blog.
The GOALS for the next few months
Content: For a long period I haven’t updated any new articles and probably my site is already dead in terms of GOOGLE.
I’m now turning my website into an authority blog covering topics from making money online, affiliate marketing & making money online.
Pinterest: Next is focusing on getting traffic from Pinterest as it is a goldmine for fast traffic. You can start seeing traffic within a couple of months.
You can literally drive 50,000 visitors a month within 3 months which later helps in applying for Mediavine.
SEO: Not only Pinterest SEO but also I will be focusing on build some high-quality backing so that I can rank on Google. Google can’t be ignored it is also a king for driving organic traffic to the blog.
Tailwind: I haven’t used any automation services like a Tailwind but once I see some traffic building up in the next couple of months I will be taking Tailwind and schedule all my pins, then I could focus in creating better content.
Courses: I have already taken the Pinteresting Strategies course by Cary Campbell which focuses on Manual Pinning and looking forward to investing in myself.
